Mark Harris was born in Omaha, NE in 1950.
He graduated from Benson High School and attended Midland Lutheran College for two years before enlisting in the U.S. Navy Reserve.
He was on active duty for two years and received an Honorable Discharge in 1974.
After returning from his active duty tour he attended and received his Bachelors Degree from the University of Albuquerque.
Mark worked in the studio and stage lighting industry in Albuquerque, Los Angeles and Nashville.
He went to work as an underground electrician at the Allied Chemical (now General Chemical) Soda Ash mine in southwest Wyoming in 1979.
In August 2005 he retired from the mining industry and now works as a curriculum coordinator for the Educational Talent Search Program at Central Wyoming College in Riverton, Wyoming.
Mark served in the Wyoming House of Representatives for four years and the Wyoming Senate for ten years. He was elected to all of leadership positions in the Wyoming Senate Democrat Caucus. He served as Minority Floor Leader in 1999 and 2000.
Mark is currently co-chair of the Chief Washakie Foundation. He serves as Chairman on the Board of Directors of Wyoming Senior Citizens Incorporated and is on the award committee of the Chief Washakie Memorial Endowment at the University of Wyoming.
