Rob Rogers was born in Denver, Colorado, and graduated from Rice University with a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor in Architecture, winning the Fossi Fellowship in 1983. In 1989, after returning to graduate school, he received the Masters of Design Studies, with Distinction, from the Harvard Graduate School of Design.
Rob joined I.M. Pei & Partners after leaving Rice, and spent six years working on projects around the world, including the Grande Louvre, the Bank of China, and the Science Center at Choate Rosemary Hall. In 1989, he opened his own practice in with projects in Boston, New York and Wyoming. In 1992, he teamed up with Jonathan Marvel to form Rogers Marvel Architects in New York City.
Rob has continued teaching design studios; he taught at Pratt Institute from 1989-1996, and at Columbia University from 1996-2002. He held the Cullinan Chair at Rice in 2004, and currently teaches at Parsons School of Design. Rob lectures frequently at schools, universities, and institutions, most recently at the Malaysian Institute of Architects, the Nationals Academy of Sciences, Harvard University and Washington University, St. Louis. Rob is appointed a national Peer for the United States General Services Administration Design Excellence Program, and serves on numerous state and local professional organizations.
