Wasim Hassan was born in Delhi, India, and settled in Canada. He earned a degree in Engineering from Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario, and is now living in the Toronto area.
Wasim has a diverse background in engineering, finance, business, and corporate governance. He served on the staff of the Municipal Electric Association in Ontario as a staff director and on the Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement Board as a political appointee. In his latter role, he was the Chairman of the Investment Committee and helped manage the $35 billion pension fund on behalf of some 400,000 members. Wasim took (very) early retirement from these roles in 2000 and is now actively pursuing new endeavours.
Presently, Wasim and his wife, Helen Joy Thomas, have bought a controlling interest in the 91 Ranch which has a long history in the Park County Wyoming ranching community, tracing its roots to Helen's great-grandfather L. G. Phelps and the Pitchfork Ranch. Helen and Wasim are busy running this Ranch which recently qualified to be admitted to the Centennial Ranches of Wyoming in recognition of its legendary past.
